Quality of Service and security negotiation for autonomous management of Next Generation Networks

چکیده
Based on the IP technology, the next generation networks (NGN) must overcome the main drawbacks of this technology consisting in the lack of quality of service (QoS), security and mobility management. To ensure a service offer in an NGN environment, a protocol for negotiating a service level can be used. However, most of the existing negotiation protocols allow the establishment of a service level which includes only QoS. As for security and mobility, they were often not covered by these negotiations, and therefore managed independently. However, securing a service can cause degradation of the QoS, and the mobility of a user can change the service needs in terms of QoS and security. Thus, we need to simultaneously manage QoS and security while taking into account user’s mobility. In this Network Protocols and Algorithms ISSN 1943-3581 2011, Vol. 3, No. 2 www.macrothink.org/npa 55 context, we propose an end-to-end NGN architecture with several autonomous domains, where each domain is under the authority of an autonomic domain manager. We provide those autonomic managers with a negotiation capability to achieve an agreement between the different domains involved in the transport of various offered services. This agreement may cover different aspects such as QoS, security and takes into account the user profile. The negotiation process will be based on SLNP (Service Level Negotiation Protocol) which uses Web Services technologies in order to enable interoperability between the managers of the different autonomous domains involved in the service transport.

IP Differentiated Services is widely seen as the framework to provide Quality of Service (QoS) in the Internet in a scalable fashion. However many issues have still not been fully addressed, such as: the way Per-Hop Behaviours can be combined to provide end-to-end services; the specification of admission control and resource reservation mechanisms; and the role of management plane functionality...

The Next Generation Networks (NGNs) are an effort to create new network architectures to meet nowadays requirements like autonomous, heterogeneous and mobile domains. With a growing multitude of online applications, end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) has become more important especially for media and real-time uses. Managing inter-domain QoS in networks with such autonomous and heterogeneous d...

We propose a market-managed QoS (Quality of Service) interconnection model for heterogeneous networking environments. The deployment of this model will help autonomous systems to reduce the cost of their network services as well as increase social welfare. We describe a technical solution for a next generation Internet, where networks are managed based on either technology requirements (QoS net...

The wireless communication with delivering variety of services to users is growing rapidly in recent years. The third generation of cellular networks (3G), and local wireless networks (WLAN) are the two widely used technologies in wireless networks. 3G networks have the capability of covering a vast area; while, WLAN networks provide higher transmission rates with less coverage. Since the two n...
